We are in the midst of our v4 upgrade. Which means lots of places will already have had it done. What is your take?
Looks like v4 will deliver a 40% increase in read number -- if you can pack that many beads on a slide. Under v3+ we had to deposit 1.3 billion beads to yield 499 million. The deposition methodology is completely re-worked, so hopefully deposition efficiency will climb for us.
Ignoring Easy Bead (because we can't afford one), the big story is drastically lower run reagent costs. Fragment sequencing kit for v4 is 1/3rd the cost it was in v3+. Mate pair sequencing kit is 1/4th the cost it was in v3+!
