  • MEGAN view alignment problems

In the past I've been able to select a node in a MEGAN taxonomy tree, and view alignments of the reads in that node to the better BLAST hits. However, I can no longer do this and am unsure why.

I can still select the node, choose view alignment, and select the reference sequence with which to compare my reads. For some reason the graphic display does not show (the window indicates that I am looking at an alignment, but nothing shows).

Has anybody else had this issue? Am I missing a setting?

I've had the same issue with version 4, 5, PC and Mac.

    Cheers.

There was a bad Java update from Apple a few weeks ago.

    If

    Code:
    java -version
Shows xM4508 instead of xM4509, proceed here..

      Java issue MEGAN

Thanks Rhinoceros. Do you by chance have any advice regarding the PC version of MEGAN? Cheers.

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
        by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist on Modified Bases...

        Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
        by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
