  • Have a problem installing Bowtie

Hi! I am a beginner in the field of bioinformatic and trying to install Bowtie on my mac and server (linux) that I use. I followed Bowtie's instruction and executed the make command from inside the Bowtie directory but I got the following error:
make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop.
I also tried gmake command as suggested by the instruction but it didn't work too

Does anyone have an idea how to fix this problem?

Can you not use the pre-compiled binaries that are available for both OS X and Linux (https://sourceforge.net/projects/bow...owtie/1.1.2/)? These are ready to run and do not need compilation.

I had downloaded it from the same page but the problem was that the instruction file inside the package belongs to not pre-compiled version so I followed the instruction and tried to compile it

I could use it without any compilation!

            Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
            by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...

            Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
            by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
