  • Scientific Associate: ChIP-seq [Ontario Institute for Cancer Research, Toronto]

The Batada lab (http://batada.oicr.on.ca) at the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) in Toronto, Canada is seeking a Scientific Associate with strong expertise in genomics and in particular ChIP. The lab is interested in the role of Chromatin and epigenetic modification during DNA replication and repair in human stem cells. The lab is part of the OICR's Genomics Platform which has over 15 next generation sequences (mainly Illumina HiSeq). The lab is affiliated with University of Toronto and is located in the heart of Toronto medical research district.

Qualifications: MSc or PhD in Molecular Biology, Genetics or Biochemistry with extensive prior experience in Genomics.
    - Strong knowledge of basic molecular biology (cloning), biochemistry (western blot)
    - Applicant will also be familiar with existing genomic tools for the analysis of next generation sequencing data and with some basic knowledge of scripting in python or perl.
Applicants with publications in epigenomics will be strongly favoured.

Interested candidates please send a coverletter (describing research interests) and a CV to Nizar Batada (nizar.batada "at" oicr.on.ca)

Recent Advances in Sequencing Analysis Tools
    by seqadmin

The sequencing world is rapidly changing due to declining costs, enhanced accuracies, and the advent of newer, cutting-edge instruments. Equally important to these developments are improvements in sequencing analysis, a process that converts vast amounts of raw data into a comprehensible and meaningful form. This complex task requires expertise and the right analysis tools. In this article, we highlight the progress and innovation in sequencing analysis by reviewing several of the...

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
    by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...
