  • Install Maq from OpenSuSe

    Hi,
    I am trying install Maq from the latest version of OpenSuSe on a 64bit duo-core Dell computer, but failed. I have downloaded Maq 1.7.1, MaqView in a folder usr/local/bin, and used make, make clean, make install, make -f Makefile.generic. None of them works. Please help!
    Many thanks,
    xhchen

      Hi,
      If I type and run 'maq' from usr/local/maq-0.7.1/, I got:
      "Maq: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"
      If I type and run 'maqview' from usr/local/maq-0.7.1/, I got:
      "bash: maqview: command not found"

      If I type and run 'maq' from usr/local/bin, I got the same message:
      "maq: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"
      If I type and run 'maqview', I got:
      "bash: maqview: command not found"

      Thanks.

        The fix for that specific error is to run Yast and install the libstdc++33 package.

          Many thanks simonandrewsl.
          Maq is working now. But maqview give an error massage as below:

          usr/local/maqview # make -f Makefile.generic

          'g++ -c -g -Wall -O2 -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -DHAVE_FREEGLUT stdhashc.cc -o stdhashc.o
          make: g++: Command not found
          make: *** [stdhashc.o] Error 127,

          usr/local/maqview # maqview

          'bash: maqview: command not found'

          Please help.

            Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
            by seqadmin

            The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...

            Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
            by seqadmin

            Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
