ELAND with indexed reads

Happy holidays!

I wonder if any of you have shared my experience that using Illumina ELAND to assemble indexed reads goes extremely slow, at least 2-3 times slower than unindexed reads at the same parameters. And how do you cope with it, other tools, and what is the most efficient ones in your opinion?
