The Director of the IBEST Computational Resources Core reports directly to the IBEST Director and is charged with leading CRC system administrators and software engineers in the development and maintenance of cutting edge research computing systems with an emphasis in high performance computing, cloud computing, distributed data storage systems, high-speed/low-latency networking, academic computing, maintenance/repairs, training, teleconferencing, technology classrooms, and other related information technology services; developing business plans, budgets, and long term strategic goals; developing and implementing new IBEST computing systems, data management systems, networking infrastructure, and user services; providing user and resource accounting statistics for institute and grant reporting; communicating and interacting effectively with individuals at all levels of the University so as to establish support for new technology initiatives and develop project requirements, limitations and needs; and effectively representing the core to the local, regional and national research communities.
