  • Best NGS software!

    Hi,
I'm looking for the best NGS software (integrated solution) for Illumina. I've been using NextGene but I found not really user friendly....
We were thinking to buy CLC bio or Genomatix, but I don't know which one is the best for human resequencing (target enrichment and exome sequencing) but also for RNA-seq and Chip seq. I know that with CLC bio you can create your pipeline; can you do the same with Genomatix?

    I accept any suggestions!!

    Thanks!

Melissa: You need to test these software packages out yourself. Ultimately what works for you in your specific environment will be more important that the advice you are going to get from subsequent responses in this thread.

Most software vendors will give you some sort of a trial license so you can make the judgement yourself.

Keep in mind that access to decent hardware to run the program you select will matter too.

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
        by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist on Modified Bases...

        Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
        by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
