  • Pbrc - research associate bioinformatics

A Research Associate position in Computational Biology is available in the COBRE Laboratory for Bioinformatics under the direction of Prof. Sujoy Ghosh at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge, LA. Dr. Ghosh's research applies computational systems biology approaches to understand the genetic and genomic architecture underlying metabolic disease. Additionally, the laboratory collaborates extensively with national and international investigators in cardiovascular and cancer-related disorders. Specifically, the Research Associate will have the opportunity to apply computational biology methodologies on traditional transcriptomics, next generation sequencing, genome-wide association studies, and microbiome analyses that will add significant value to several signature research programs at PBRC. The position provides opportunities for the development and application of innovative, cutting-edge data analytic tools and approaches to enhance the research capabilities of multiple investigators in a highly collaborative framework.

Recent Advances in Sequencing Analysis Tools
    by seqadmin

The sequencing world is rapidly changing due to declining costs, enhanced accuracies, and the advent of newer, cutting-edge instruments. Equally important to these developments are improvements in sequencing analysis, a process that converts vast amounts of raw data into a comprehensible and meaningful form. This complex task requires expertise and the right analysis tools. In this article, we highlight the progress and innovation in sequencing analysis by reviewing several of the...

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
    by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...
