How to test average CPU and memory usage

Dear All,

I'm now testing some pipelines and want to compare their performance including usage of memory and CPU.

The code for testing can be wrapped in bash and will be executed in the Ubuntu system (on which I do have root)

For total running time I think I can solve, while not sure is there any decent method or tool that can help to generated a report for average also maximum usage of CPU and memory during running my code.

Thank you very much.

Fred
