    June 4-6, 2010, Wuhan, China

    Call for Papers

The 8th International Bioinformatics Workshop (IBW2010) will be held from June 4th to 6th, 2010 in Wuhan University, Wuhan, China.

The workshop is organized by Wuhan University, co-organized by Journal of Genetics and Genomics, Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica, sponsored by NSFC.

Submissions of substantial, original and previously unpublished works are invited in all areas related to bioinformatics, computational biology and systems biology. The topics of the workshop are typical but not exclusive, including computational genomics, bio-sequence analysis, comparative genome analysis, biological networks, computational proteomics, computational structural biology, computational systems biology, biological data mining, computational evolutionary biology, as well as algorithmic and combinatorial methods in bioinformatics.

    Topics:
IBW2010 is interested in but not limited to the following topics:

    Systems biology
    Structural bioinformatics
    Biomedical text mining
Protein structure, function and sequence analysis
    Protein interactions, docking and function
DNA and RNA structure, function and sequence analysis
Gene regulation, expression, identification and network
    Structural, functional and comparative genomics
    Computational evolutionary biology
Biomedical data acquisition, normalization, analysis and visualization
Algorithms, models, software, and tools in Bioinformatics
    Novel approaches to bioinformatics problems
    Drug design
Analysis of TCM (Tranditional Chinese Medicine)
    Immunoinformatics
    Ecological informatics
All submissions should be written in English with double space and will be fully reviewed by the program committee for significance, originality, accuracy and clarity and will be peer-reviewed for potential acceptance. All selected papers will be recommended to several international journals, such as Journal of Genetics and Genomics (JGG) (SCI index), Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica (ABBS) (SCI index), International Journal of Data Mining& Bioinformatics (IJDMB) (SCI index), International Journal of Bioinformatics Research and Application , Wuhan University Journal of Natural Science .

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
      by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...

      Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
      by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
