Does anyone have experience using Illumina HiSeq v3 reagents after their expiry date? Everything is still stored at -20 in original packaging. Kits in question is SR and PE v3 clustering kits and sequencing kits. If so, how far out have you used them? Be aware, my Illumina products arrived with only 3 months left on the shelf life!

As long as it was stored properly, I don't see what could have gone bad.... -
I was told by my FAS that the SR kits are more robust to being used past expiry than the PE kits. I guess it has something to do with how the linearisation is achieved.
We have some SR kits that are about 6 months out of date and we're going to put them on in a few weeks to see if we get anything, but I have no info at the moment.Comment

Love this - good data definitely starts from good input, and poor input can only give relatively poor data. I particularly like the mention of Nanodrop/absorbance based methods for quantification. It's such a toss up if you'll get an accurate reading or what amounts to a randomly generated number, and a lot of library/sequencing related issues can be traced back to poor quant.Yesterday, 11:43 AM

I’m not a sequencing expert. I’m a purification scientist who uses NGS to evaluate workflows my group develops. With this perspective, we think about the sample first and the NGS workflow second.
