PROGRAMMER ANALYST Opportunity at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston!

The MGH Pathology Department is a leader in the application of genomic technologies to the study of human disease, covering diverse fields such as personalized cancer medicine, integrative tumor profiling and targeted genome editing. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to work with our team of clinicians, biologists and statisticians to employ and develop computational tools for the analysis of high-dimensional clinical and research data. The successful candidate will join a thriving bioinformatics community and become involved in a range of ongoing efforts, with examples including: correlation of clinical outcomes with high-throughput tumor DNA sequencing data (http://abcnews.go.com/video/playerIndex?id=7740568), analysis of epigenome-wide profiling data from experimental cancer model systems (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20569696) and optimization of genome engineering tools (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21822273).

    Principal Duties:
•Work with clinicians, basic scientists and computational biologists to evaluate, select and apply bioinformatics tools for high-dimensional biomedical data
•Write software to implement novel analysis algorithms developed by members of our group
    •Maintain analysis pipelines
•Produce software documentation for developers and end-users
•Participate in collaborative research projects with investigators at MGH, the Broad Institute and other partner institutions

    Skills Required:

Multiomic Liquid Biopsy: What DNA/RNA Panels Reveal That DNA Alone Can’t
    by SEQadmin2

Tumors contain complex mixtures of cell populations that evolve in response to treatment and host-specific factors. Tissue biopsies provide only static snapshots of a tumor’s state. But what if we could follow that evolution over time using a minimally invasive technique?

Liquid biopsies can detect tumor-derived material circulating in the bloodstream, providing a way to study treatment response, detect emerging resistance, and discover new biomarkers. Circulating

New Genomics Technologies Take Aim at Long-Standing Limits
    by SEQadmin2

Researchers using sequencing and genomics tools often have to make trade-offs. They can choose between speed or scale, short reads or long-range information, or targeted panels or a view of the whole transcriptome. New technologies that have been released this year are built to address those tough choices.

We asked six companies the same four questions to learn about their latest products. The new technologies bring a lot to the table, including rethinking sequencing
