FREE pass to CHI conference next week in San Diego, CA

I realized this completely slipped my mind but I have a free pass to the CHI Now-Generation Sequencing Conference that takes place in San Diego, CA, from March 17-19 (next week!).

I know it's late notice so I don't really have time to figure out a fun way to give it away...so the first person* who posts in this thread with a 100% assurance that they will utilize this pass will get it.

Forecast is mid 70s and sun. Did I mention the hotel is right on the beach?

*"person" is defined with one caveat. Academic trumps all.

I am interested in attending the conference. I am in San Diego so if I get the pass I will be sure to commit 100%.

By the way, what do you mean by "a free pass"? Have you already registered at the conference and would like to give your registration to someone else? Just want to clarify ...

          Hey wangzkai,

It's all yours...just email admin@ with your (real) name and institute and I'll do the rest.

It's a proper "free pass" donated by the conference organizers in exchange for the banner ad you see above...not a transfer of my registration.

Edit: On second thought...unless somehow you're a postdoc...we'll let this stay open for a few more days...as your IP address resolves to a commercial institution.

That is fine. I am not a postdoc. But I remain interested in the free pass. Please let me know if I can have it.

Will do. If there isn't anyone else by Monday morning (let's do 8am PST), it's yours. Thanks for understanding.

10 hours left. Any southern california academic sequencing gurus interested?

It's all yours wangzkai...email admin@ with your real name and institute and I'll get things going.

Thanks all. Next time I'll give more notice.

Advanced Sequencing Platforms Tackle Neuroscience’s Toughest Genomics Problems
                    by SEQadmin2

Genomics studies in neuroscience face a special challenge due to the brain’s complexity and scarcity of samples. Mapping changes in cell type and state using conventional next-generation sequencing methods remains challenging. Advances in technologies like single-cell sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, and long-read sequencing have opened the door to deeper studies of the brain and diseases like Alzheimer’s, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and schizophrenia.

Cancer Drug Resistance: The Lingering Barrier to Rising Survival
                    by SEQadmin2

Cancer survival rates have significantly increased in the last few decades in the United States, reaching a combined 70% 5-year survival rate by 2021. Behind this number, there are years of research to find new therapies, drug targets, and early detection methods. But there is one core challenge that keeps slowing down these advances, and it’s about drug resistance.

There is no single reason why many patients don’t respond to treatment as expected. Cancer is...

Love this - good data definitely starts from good input, and poor input can only give relatively poor data. I particularly like the mention of Nanodrop/absorbance based methods for quantification. It's such a toss up if you'll get an accurate reading or what amounts to a randomly generated number, and a lot of library/sequencing related issues can be traced back to poor quant.
