Depends on number of samples (also WGS or paired-end) but 2 samples and 1 run would probably cost you between about £7000-£9,000 UK pounds or $7000-$9000 US dollars. -

Yeah, I probably didn't make myself clear. In the UK we are used to paying a pretty standard conversion of £1 = $1 for anything electronic or technical. So a camera costing $599 in the US will probably cost £599. Various discussions with Americans about sequencing leads me to conclude we are equally screwed when it comes to the cost of sequencing!Comment

Love this - good data definitely starts from good input, and poor input can only give relatively poor data. I particularly like the mention of Nanodrop/absorbance based methods for quantification. It's such a toss up if you'll get an accurate reading or what amounts to a randomly generated number, and a lot of library/sequencing related issues can be traced back to poor quant.07-01-2026, 11:43 AM

I’m not a sequencing expert. I’m a purification scientist who uses NGS to evaluate workflows my group develops. With this perspective, we think about the sample first and the NGS workflow second.
