    Hi everyone,
    For a seminar at my department I need popularity and list of commercially available/upcoming next generation sequencing technologies in daily practice. I found the list at an article published this year. (Goodwin et al., Nature, June 2016) Are there any addition or comment to this list. Thank you very much.

    Genia (Roche) is another upcoming sequencing company

    There was helicos and a new company using the same technology (forgot the name). There was also cPAN sequencing by Complete Genomics.

      The company using Helicos technology is SeqLL. You can mark all of the 454 platforms as discontinued - they're all gone and no longer being supported. I would remove 10X Genomics as it isn't really a sequencing platform (more of a library prep platform). For BGI you can add -50, -100 and -1000 (although this last one probably isn't really on the market anymore). All the v2, v3, v4 designations for the Illumina platforms are really just chemistry versions and not really platform versions. I guess it just depends on how inclusive you want your list to be.

      We've got a few more emerging (not yet released) platforms listed here: http://allseq.com/kb-category/emerging-technologies/ The list needs to be updated, but at least it gives you a few names.
