JOB SUMMARY:
Sangamo Therapeutics, Inc. is seeking a Ph.D. level scientist to join our Technology group. The successful candidate will work with the group to develop exquisitely specific genome engineering reagents for treatment of human diseases. Specific responsibilities will include the development of novel sequence-based methods for characterizing the activity and specificity of genome engineering reagents as well as assay automation using liquid handling robots. The candidate will also work with bioinformatics software engineers to automate the analysis of resultant sequence data. The position requires adaptability, creativity, and a capacity for constant innovation in pursuit of company goals. REQUIREMENTS:
- Ph.D. in biology, chemistry or related field
- Extensive experience with molecular biology
- Experience with high throughput sequencing
- Familiarity with UNIX-based operating systems and shell scripting
- An ability to work in a team-oriented, multidisciplinary environment

- Experience using or developing sequence-based assays
- Experience with genome engineering
- The ability to program in Python
- Knowledge of statistical tests
- The ability to program in R, SAS, or other statistical computer languages
- Experience with:
- Illumina sequence data
