    MinION Computer Requirements

    So, one of our Bio Lab groups just received their first MinION sequencer and there has been a bit of debate as to selection of computer to support the device. The latest ONT reference document says that Win/Mac/Linux are all supported, but there appears to be a consensus that Windows better supports the software stack? I think this somewhat unlikely as I continue to see posts of very established Bio groups using Macs, some even supporting multiple MinION's with one iMac.

    Short question...are there any inherent differences in support of the MinION software between Win/Mac/Linux?

    It's probably better to ask this question on nanopore forums, you should have the access by now - they have more users and can give more detailed feedback.

    I've seen people run it without any problems on Mac or Windows, but I've heard that Ubuntu version is a bit raw. At any rate, don't do base calling during the run - that should make it more stable.
