Looking for cost friendly WGS core or service for sequencing bacterial genomes

    Hi bioinformaticians,

My university lab is looking to obtain whole genome sequencing of bacterial genomes. We are based in the US but can ship out samples internationally if that's more financially favorable.

The specs we're looking for: The Bacillus genomes we'd like to get sequenced are ~ 4.2 Mb and we're looking for ~ 20x coverage. We were thinking of using Illumina sequencing (possibly Hiseq 2500, for paired end reads of ~125 or ~150). And we're looking a service that'd do library prep+barcoding in addition to the sequencing.

Any idea if companies or university-based sequencing services usually offer a better price per genome, and are there any vendors you'd recommend? We're looking for a competitive price quote.

    Thanks!

I'd appreciate any insight individuals more experienced than me could offer. Thanks!

Genohub is the easiest and most reliable way to find and order NGS services from top providers, with guaranteed turnaround time and results.

Also: http://allseq.com/ Comparison shop but compare the develerables list carefully before selecting a provider. Devil is always in the details.

How many genomes do you need to sequence?
Microbial ecologist, running a sequencing core. I have lots of strong opinions on how to survey communities, pretty sure some are even correct.

Sounds like a fairly straightforward MiSeq run or single lane of HiSeq. Check out my rates for MiSeq (rates on the page are for genomes run on 2x250 MiSeq)

If you are interested in leveraging Next Gen sequencing power but the services listed don't exactly match what you want to do, please contact us . We're happy to discuss custom sequencing projects including protocol development. Turnaround time for our services is dependent on type of ...

We're starting up a Illumina sequencing service to complement our PacBio genome sequencing. We would do your 15 samples, starting from DNA (library prep, sequencing to 60X read depth with paired end 150 bp reads, de novo assembly plus de novo annotation, and read mapping to a reference with variant calling) for $120/sample. E-mail me at [email protected] for more information if you want.
