Bioanalyzer cable

Has anyone successfully used a non-Agilent USB to serial adapter successfully and can share the part #?

We are upgrading our BioAnalyser 2100 computer and HATE to spend almost $180 on the recommended (supported) adapter # 5188-8031 when look-a-like cables are $10. If we have to spend the money, OK, but it seems worth asking.

We use the DeLock adaptor to connect our Agilent 2100 to our garbage laptop. You can get it on amazon with the Amazon serial number B003Y3QAPE. It's 33 buckaroos and has been working just fine since ~July of last year!
