    Advice for beginner

Just starting to get familiar with Chip-seq technology. Was wondering how to manipulate chip-seq data from literature. I am running into issues on what programs to use(Galaxy etc), file formats(BED, Bowtie, txt). What I want to do is become familiar with how to analyze and use the data to search for particular targets. Just need some advice on the best way to approach the bioinformatics of Chip-seq.
    Thanks everyone
