    Guys,

Genome Medicine is a relatively new journal and there have been only 13 correspondence articles so far. I read all of them and I think the follow two (particularly the first) are most applicable to us (in style/structure, not content):

we need to write a cover letter, including

1> why the manuscript should be published (in general)

2> why the manuscript should be in Genome Med. (http://genomemedicine.com/about#trials)

3> declare any potential competing interests

4> provide the contact details (including email addresses) of potential peer reviewers for your manuscript.

Yes. This is basically the letter I sent for pre approval. We can slightly revise and use that. Are you going to send around a new version of the local WORD document?

Robs, can you double check on the calculation regarding the following claim?

After all, this feature is barely used. PLoS series, boasting >66M HTML page views, only have 1.6% of their publications with more than two comments and 9.5% with at least one comment2

We could include those numbers in parenthesis if you think it will be useful.

                      tag cloud

                      Hi everyone,

Eco mentioned that someone might have a complete postdump as an SQL file of all the forums. I would like to generate a few tag clouds of some of forums for a poster I will be present in a few weeks. Can someone hook me up with this file? [email protected]

BTW, I am not sure if ECO mind sharing the SQL dump not for the publication of SEQanswers. I think it would be better let him give the green light here or let him know?

                                post the poster?

How about also posting your poster here for us when it is complete and you have presented it? I am sure we are an interested audience.

Advanced Sequencing Platforms Tackle Neuroscience’s Toughest Genomics Problems
                                  by SEQadmin2

Genomics studies in neuroscience face a special challenge due to the brain’s complexity and scarcity of samples. Mapping changes in cell type and state using conventional next-generation sequencing methods remains challenging. Advances in technologies like single-cell sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, and long-read sequencing have opened the door to deeper studies of the brain and diseases like Alzheimer’s, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and schizophrenia.

Cancer Drug Resistance: The Lingering Barrier to Rising Survival
                                  by SEQadmin2

Cancer survival rates have significantly increased in the last few decades in the United States, reaching a combined 70% 5-year survival rate by 2021. Behind this number, there are years of research to find new therapies, drug targets, and early detection methods. But there is one core challenge that keeps slowing down these advances, and it’s about drug resistance.

There is no single reason why many patients don’t respond to treatment as expected. Cancer is...

Love this - good data definitely starts from good input, and poor input can only give relatively poor data. I particularly like the mention of Nanodrop/absorbance based methods for quantification. It's such a toss up if you'll get an accurate reading or what amounts to a randomly generated number, and a lot of library/sequencing related issues can be traced back to poor quant.
