    Cancer Biology articles, my list

I'm collecting a list of articles on next generation sequencing and cancer Starting with these 3

Applications of second generation sequencing to cancer genomics by Keith Robison (a forum member here, see krobison)
    doi 10.1093/bib/bbg013

Methods, Challenges, and Promise of Next Generation Sequencing in Cancer Biology
    PMCID: PMC3238319

Cancer Genomics: Technology, Discovery, and Translation
    doi: 10.1200/JCO.2011.39.2316

Elaine Mardis at WashU has tons of papers on this.

Yes, each of the articles above cites a different subset of those.

I once kept a list of references in case I tried to write a sequel, but the primary literature on this is expanding by several each week, so I gave up. Just the Nature family (mothership, Nature Genetics, Nature Methods, Nature Biotechnology) probably pumps out a dozen or so per month; Science isn't far behind and even Cell & Cancer Cell have published a bunch.

Sent you a PM. Would love to get you involved (if you have time) in a project we are doing....

Love this - good data definitely starts from good input, and poor input can only give relatively poor data. I particularly like the mention of Nanodrop/absorbance based methods for quantification. It's such a toss up if you'll get an accurate reading or what amounts to a randomly generated number, and a lot of library/sequencing related issues can be traced back to poor quant.

Nine Things a Sample Prep Scientist Thinks About Before Sequencing
              by SEQadmin2

I’m not a sequencing expert. I’m a purification scientist who uses NGS to evaluate workflows my group develops. With this perspective, we think about the sample first and the NGS workflow second. The sequencer is an exceptionally honest reporter, but it can only report on what you give it, so whether you get clean, interpretable data from an NGS workflow is largely determined before you begin.

Here are nine questions we think about, in roughly the order they matter, before...
