Default How does SMRT cell detect fluorescent signal?

Hi I have a question about the signal detection in ZMW.
It's said that "The ZMW holes are ~70 nm in diameter and ~100 nm in depth...the wavelength of the light is too large to allow it efficiently pass through the waveguide...". And I believe the excitation fluorescent signal should have even longer wavelength than emitting light. So it should be also impossible to penetrate the ZMW well for the fluorescent signal.

Could anybody share some information/thoughts about Pacbio's detection methods
Maybe the detectors are located inside each one of the ZMW wells? Thanks!
