  • The Future of Cloud Computing

UnitedLayer CEO to moderate panel discussion on The Future of Cloud Computing at The Commonwealth Club in San Francisco with technology experts Timothy Chou, Simon Crosby, and Gina Tomlinson.

To help you understand the past, present and more importantly the FUTURE of Cloud Computing, UnitedLayer CEO, Abhijit Phanse, is moderating a panel of industry luminaries Timothy Chou (Pioneer in Software on Demand; Author; Former CEO, Oracle On-Demand), Simon Crosby (Founder & CTO, Bromium; Former CTO, Citrix Systems), and Gina Tomlinson (CTO, City and County of San Francisco, Department of Technology) at The Commonwealth Club of California on July 19th 2011.

The panel of tech insiders explores the various forms of cloud computing, the economics of the cloud, and the key technology of virtualization, which enables the abstraction of resources into massive pools that can be tapped on demand. Come explore the challenges of security, privacy, accessibility and the opportunities for efficient resource utilization toward a greener planet. Will the cloud be an on-demand instant gratification engine, the ultimate equalizer bringing the power of the infinite into the hands of a single person, or just the ubiquitous computing model of our increasingly digital life? Will it rain? Will cloud computing become fully adopted as part of everyday computing?

UnitedLayer is offering free passes to this prestigious event on an as available basis. This event will be a valuable learning opportunity for anyone interested in exploring the IT cloud space in near future.

      Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
      by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...

      Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
      by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
