  • RiboZero for non-human samples

Does anyone use the RiboZero kits for rRNA depletion of non-human/mouse/rat samples? I mean vero, BHK, or CHO etc. cells.

Mammalian cultured cell lines should work well with the Ribo-Zero H/M/R kit. For other types of samples, please see our species compatibility list

For specific organism depletion, have you considered using NuGEN’s model organism kits utilizing our InDA-C technology? For non-model organisms, we offer customization. The way this works is that you provide us with information on the organism of choice, and sequences which you want depleted (and this is not limited to ribosomal RNA, but other highly abundant transcripts) and we design specific probes to target these transcripts. For the more standard organism such as mouse and rat, we have off the shelf kits available:

            Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
            by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
