Good morning,
Im new to SNPs and may question may appear naive. Im trying to understand what is a SNP and what do they mean when research papers associate SNPs to health conditions.
1. e.g. if the NCBI SNP database states rs2074192 as C/T. This implies that more than 1% of the population has C/T. How about the remaining others, what do they have...CC, TT OR can than have AT, GC etc?
Also, when studies associate SNPs to certain health conditions, they do not clearly state which genotype (CC, CT, or TT) is associated with a particular health condition being studied.
Perhaps I do not understand the basic of SNPs?
