  • A Problem with Shory

Have everyone installed the assembly software for SOLID data-Shorty on Ubuntu? A error occurs:"configuration file needed" in this step-./build conf/conf-file bin/shorty-assembler, can anyone give me a hand?

Yes, I'm trying it.. as conf-file you have to choose from these three options:
'ab-strict' : Used for ABI Solid Data (it would be conf/ab-strict)
'helicos-strict' : Used for Helicos data (it would be conf/helicos-strict)
'solexa-strict' : Used for Illumina/Solexa data (it would be conf/solexa-strict)

When executing the build command, g++ does severeal things but stops with an error:
g++: ../obj/shorty_string.o : No such file or directory
All other needed *.o-files are generated automatically, except shorty_string.o
Does anyone know how to solve this problem? I already tried to copy another shorty-string.o from the ../src directory into ../obj but then there are a lot of undefined references..

Solved: Before building we deleted ../src/shorty-string.o - after that everything was fine. Works also on 64-bit architecture.

        Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
        by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...

        Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
        by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
