  • Qiime install

    Hi,

As usual I need a quick and dirty and reliable way of getting all the required dependencies for installing Qiime on my Ubuntu PC. Looks like I have everything but libghc installed and it looks like getting libghc for Ubuntu is challenging....at least for me...

So, can anybody out there help me in a hurry?

    TiA,

    Nash

The dependencies can be a pain. Try out the VirtualBox version if that works for you. Its fine for most small datasets and come pre-packaged.

Also look through the QIIME forum if somebody has reported problems with libghc. Maybe this applies to you??

I am trying to install qiime trough virtual box. Everything seems to go ok, until I enter the command VBOXADDITIONS in order ti run it, and I am asked for a password...In the video tutorial a password in not required.
        What I should do?

The default password for the VM is 'qiime' (without the quotes)

has anybody tried the packages from the bio-linux repo? I haven't had a chance to see whether they actually work--if so, installing qiime is as easy as running apt-get

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
              by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...

              Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
              by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
