  • NextSeq 1000 and 2000 cluster density and number of copies

Any knowledge on the cluster dimensions of the new systems, how many copies of the library are present in each cluster and how these flow cells differ from the other patterned arrays that have become the hallmark of the newer Illumina systems?

    Thanks for any insight.

287 views and no responses! Does that mean no one knows, or no one is interested? It is just a academic question really: how small can Illumina go with this?

Since these systems have not been released as yet it is not surprising that the information is not yet available. Only thing publicly available seems to be this spec sheet.

The Omics Omics blog by Keith Robison is a good source of information about new systems, but he also wonders how many copies are in a cluster. http://omicsomics.blogspot.com/2020/...hes-super.html

Illumina just posted two sample runs on BaseSpace. You should be able to download the data and see for yourself.

            Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
            by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...

            Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
            by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
