  • MiSeqDx specifications

What are the specifications of the FDA-cleared version of the MiSeq. As I understood, it's a downgrade version of it (as it had to be locked since the beginning of FDA application processing), but what exactly?
    - what is the expected ouput (number of reads, lenght...)
    - what files are going to be available for the user? (are we going to have access to fastq files? bcl?)

Well, it's not easy to find these information on illumina's website.

    Thanks!

Thanks, this answers my first question. Any idea about files available after sequencing processed?

You may want to check with your local FAS (who can in turn check with someone here in the US, if the instrument is not available in France).

My feeling (speculation) is the output may be some kind of a summary report saying such and such mutation is present/absent. No data may be directly accessible. Someone who has a MiSeqDX perhaps can provide additional information.

Wonder how they dealt with the well known carryover contamination issue. This would be a major problem for viral or tumor sequencing.

          Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
          by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...

          Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
          by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
