  • Bioanalyzer expired RNA Nano 6000 kit

    Hey!

I'm need to run a preliminary QC on my RNA samples but I've got a problem... My RNA Nano 6000 kit expired in june 2010 (yes yes lmao ).

I wanted to know whether only reagents have an expiry date or does the chip also have an expiry date? I have 90+ unused chips all from the same lot (expiring June 2010) and dont know whether i can run my assay on the same chips if i buy fresh reagents and ladder or whether i need to buy new chips as well. Any help will be appreciated!

    thanks in advance

    Hi,
I've used expired RNA pico reagents and chips (>1 year) without to much trouble (from different lots); it gave me really good profiles. Maybe, the ladder is the thing that shouldn't be too old. I think your chips from 2010 are gonna be fine with fresh reagents. Let me know how it works if you do so.
    Cheers

I just wanted to second cascoamarillo's comments. I've never had a problem with old chips. The dye and ladder are the reagents that have given me trouble if they are old.

        Hi,

You shouldnt be having any problem with the Chips whatsoever. But the reagent should be gone. The reagents have to be reordered. RNA 6000 reagents were a lot of trouble to us even when it hadn't expired.

          Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
          by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...

          Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
          by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
