    Gene annotation on scaffold (fasta)

    Dear all,
it might sound as a silly question, however I want you to ask how to annotate genes on scaffolds (fasta). I'm dealing with a grass species. What interests me is finding the genes on the scaffolds plus, if it's possible, getting the names for at least of some of the identified genes.
I've read some literature on that, but anyway, I'm not sure how should I start doing it.

    Many thanks!
