They're also being helped out by NHGRI grants, although I'm sure that money doesn't go all that far in developing a new technology and instrument to run it:

The more skeptical amongst you might have noticed that this press release (containing few/no details beyond previous, very old announcements) came out at a similar time to the announcement of the Justice department's anti-trust probe into IBM...
