The number I heard was $26,000 off a MiSeq with a qualifying trade. Qualifying trade-ins included ABI 31xx, & 37xx machines, SOLiD, 454 GS-Flx and others. I can't remember specifically if the PGM was included, I wouldn't be surprised if it was, but the trade allowance was no where near full retail on the instrument.Originally posted by SEQseekers View PostI heard that ILMN just started offering up to the full trade-in value of the PGM toward the purchase of a MiSeq...

Checking further I found the $26K was offered on:Originally posted by SEQseekers View PostI had overheard that it was $26K for the listed above and up to $49K for the PGM. Don't know if anyone has done it yet, but guess it could hurt to hit up the rep if your interested.
ABI 31xx, 37xx
ABI SOLiD
ILMN GA (I'm not sure if this means the GAII/GAIIx are excluded.)
Roche/454 GS-FLX & GSjr.
The PGM was not on the list.

I just had a chance to speak an Illumina Rep and he did confirm that there is a PGM - MiSeq trade-in program going on right now for up to the full $50K - As we don't have a PGM (but just looking into desktop sequencing) he was not overly eager to go into details with me - So, I guess there are a few stipulation and he was not really clear about when the promotion ends... Hope this helps

Data variability is still an issue in sequencing technologies despite the advances in reproducibility and accuracy of these platforms. But the problem does not originate in the sequencing itself, but in the previous steps, before the sample reaches the sequencer.
The first step is collection, followed by preservation and sample preparation for analysis. Most scientists overlook those steps, but not being careful might just be skewing the experiment’s results.
