  • sample sheet?

    Hi,

does anybody know if it is possible to load a SAMPLE SHEET in the 454 with run parameters, sample name etc. like an abi 3730?
We are trying to pass the data from our lims to the 454.

    Thanks.

I recall that this was possible with the 454; they even had a small document titled GS-FLX LIMS Implementation Guide, but this was in older versions of the software. I just looked through all the current documentation (v2.3) and it appears to me that this functionality has been removed. This is a shame because I always told myself that some day I'll get around to implementing this.

You should double check with your 454 representative to make sure about the current capabilities regarding LIMS integration.

    LATE BREAKING NEWS.

Okay, it appears I spoke to soon. Just an hour ago I was notified of the availability of software v 2.5.3 for GS-FLX Titanium systems and reading over the list of changes from v2.3 I came across this line:

"• PTP ID lookup now supported if site is LIMS-enabled."

I haven't had any time to investigate further but it seem that the capability does indeed exist in v2.5. I'm not sure if this is something that has been added(back) in 2.5 or I simply missed it in 2.3.

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
      by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist on Modified Bases...

      Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
      by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
