Hello all,
I am working on applying phylogenetic tree analysis to documents (text) that I am treating as sequences, and was hoping one of you could help me with a problem. As I understand it, the typical phylogenetic tree has the known sequences as leaves, with the unknown ancestors as interior nodes. I am trying to determine the ancestral relationship among known sequences (which are documents) and therefore would like to find a technique that would show an ancestry among known sequences. Also, I know the dates of the sequences (documents).
In other words, I am trying to infer the ancestral relationships among a set of n sequences that are all known.
I would think this is a simpler problem than the ones of reconstructing unknown common ancestors and such, but haven't seen any applications like this in my searches.
Any help you might have would be appreciated, and apologies for the simplistic beginner question.
Best,
Bob
