Default Hi..also, deer in headlights.

Hi all,

You guessed Noob. I am a graduate student that just joined a lab at the University of Utah. The project that I would like to undertake involves sequencing a retrovirus that has been passaged through several hosts. The goal is to get some information on the genetic basis/kenetics of the apparent adaptations. It looks like my department is going to get a MySeq, which is pretty exciting. I think the platform will suit my needs nicely. In terms of bioinformatics, this is going to be an uphill struggle for me. The only work I have done in this realm is a little metagenomic mining for a natural product synthesis pathway. While very informative, i started with the data set and went from there. So, that is where I am. I look forward to becoming an active member of the site and bioinformatics community as a whole. Hopefully it will not be too hard to adhere to ECO's guidelines, although every question I will have for the next month or two will have been answered several times I am sure.

(I am sure there are several grammatical errors in this message...sorry)
