  • NGS Systems developer - Kiel University Germany

    Hi everyone,

Germany has recently established several new national core facilities for NGS, one of which will be hosted at the Institute of Clinical Molecular Biology (IKMB) in Kiel.

The IKMB has around 10 years of experience providing NGS services; this new investment however will make necessary a number of new developments and upgrades to our IT infrastructure and general processing backbone.

To this end, we are looking for a software developer / bioinformatician to help drive this new agenda. The full job description can be found here:

We always look forward to excellent applications in order to expand our scientific team. The Institute provides an inspiring working environment for scientists from all over the world.

More information about the institute: http://www.ikmb.uni-kiel.de/about-us

    And finally Kiel: http://www.ikmb.uni-kiel.de/about-us/living-north , https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kiel

    Thanks for looking!
    Marc

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
    by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist on Modified Bases...

    Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
    by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
