Default Functional consequences of indels

Hi All,
There are plenty of software out there that will take in the SNP and tell you if these changes have any deleterious consequences. I want to do the same thing for indels. Are there any software to do this?
How do people usually analyze indels?
One possibility is that you can translate it and see if the indel resulted in a nonsense protein or a premature termination.
Anything else that can be done with these datasets?
Thanks
Christoph

SIFT has a coding indel classification tool.
