  • IPAR is now a big, expensive door stop

So, with the release of SCS 2.4 the IPAR which we purchased less than a year ago in our upgrade from GA->GAII is now not used.

    Thanks Illumina.

(Sorry, I just had to rant a little.)

This probably won't make you feel any better, but our IT group is already circling our two IPARs, waiting to scavenge......

    Here are the specs:
    8 x 3.16 GHz Cores
    16GB RAM
3.4 TB usable storage (in RAID 10 configuration)

Yeah, we have plenty of other uses for it. I'm not complaining!

            Installing linux

I installed Centos linux on ours. I could not get a partition bigger than 1.8 TB and wound up with a 1.8 TB and a 1.6 TB partition. I'm not sure this is the best outcome and I'm not sure about the RAID level. HP does not support Centos. Has anybody tried to put any other linux on an IPAR?

              Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
              by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
