As an Assistant Computational Genomic Scientist in the Applied Bioinformatics Core (ABC), your responsibilities will be determined by the genomics, epigenomics, and bioinformatics needs pertinent to the research projects of WCMC faculty (clients) as you design and implement computational tools that will contribute to their progress. You will also be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of automatable analysis pipelines, software packages and web based applications to support domain-specific analyses, reporting and data visualizations for individual research, clinical, and translational projects. You will be expected to work with system administrators and software engineers to accomplish these goals. In addition, you may establish and/or continue collaborations with WCMC colleagues and with other extramural clients of the ABC on research projects that are of direct interest to your scientific area, e.g., your plans on a collaboration involving genomic characterization of inflammatory responses of human macrophages in the context of RA, as part of the projects within the ABC..
Additionally, you will engage with WCMC faculty to support basic research and translational projects in the areas of computational genomics, epigenomics, and bioinformatics. You will be responsible for identifying and implementing contemporary computational tools and methodologies that will meet the scientific goals of the ABC’s constituents, and educating faculty and lab members in their appropriate and effective use via small group training and one-on-one consulting.
You will also be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of automatable genomic analysis pipelines, software packages for such analyses, and web based applications that support domain-specific analyses, data reporting and visualizations. You will be expected to work with system administrators and software engineers, and technical staff within the ABC to accomplish these goals.
