Default Shotgun sequencing

Hello,
Is that the shotgun sequencing method produces long reads?
thank you for your reply.

Shotgun sequencing is a strategy that can be used with conventional or NG sequencing.

Depending on definition of "long" such reads (> 1 kb) can be produced by Pacific Biosciences and Oxford Nanopore sequencer. Illumina also has a new synthetic long read technology.

Not sure if you would be able to see this: http://www.nature.com/nrg/journal/v1...l/nrg2626.html

This should be freely available: http://www.molecularecologist.com/ne...eldguide-2014/ which is a resource for this article: http://dx.doi.org/10.1111/j.1755-0998.2011.03024.x
