  • Postgraduate Student in Bioinformatics and Liver Cancer Genomics

Postgraduate student position is available in the Department of Pathology, University of Hong Kong (HKU), to investigate molecular mechanism of liver cancer using next generation sequencing. We seek applications from candidates with expertise in bioinformatics, and computational biology, with strong interests in translational research utilizing liquid biopsy, next-generation sequencing and single-cell sequencing to study liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma, HCC).

Candidates who have strong interest in translational research and appreciate the complexity of biological systems are particularly encouraged to apply. The ability to work independently, to participate in highly collaborative projects, and to contribute intellectually to the development of the research are requisites for the position.

Candidates for the position should have an undergraduate degree in bioinformatics, genetics, computational biology or other relevant disciplines and in-depth experience with at least one of the following programming languages: R, Python, Perl, JAVA, C/C++, etc. Experience in cancer research and/or molecular biology will be an advantage.

Candidates should be highly motivated individuals with the ability to work in a team environment and with good oral and written communication skills in English.

This position is supported by postgraduate scholarship (https://www.gradsch.hku.hk/gradsch/p...nding-and-fees). As of 2020, HKU ranks 22nd internationally by QS, and 35th internationally by THE.

The appointee will work under the supervision of Dr. Daniel Ho (https://hub.hku.hk/cris/rp/rp02285) and Prof. Irene Ng (https://hub.hku.hk/cris/rp/rp00335) in research projects to investigate molecular and cellular mechanisms of HCC. Please contact Dr. Daniel Ho ([email protected]) for further information.

I am a postgraduate student in bioinformatics and liver cancer genomics. I am currently working on my PhD dissertation, which is about the development of novel methods for tumor classification using whole-exome sequencing data. This https://www.edugeeksclub.com/buy-term-papers-online/ blog post will be talking about how these new methods can help in the diagnosis of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
