Default miRNA sequencing, sample size?

Hi all,

We are going to perform some miRNA sequencing experiments. Presently we have enough samples for both control and disease (>15 samples for each group). We would like to study the miRNA expression profile difference between the two groups. Now my question is, what is the appreciate sample size for each group? We could select 10 but I guess this number is too big.

Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

It depends on how low level expression you need to detect. You get 6 million reads on the MiSeq and there are about 1000 unique miRNAs.
