  • R package installation problem

    Hi,

    I am trying to install the rgl package on my Mac, but I keep failing!

    I tried to install the package directly through R:

    $ install.package(rgl)

    The process stops because of the firewall the company I am working for, and I do not have the privilege to change anything about that.

    I then tried to do the installation through Terminal:

    $ R CMD INSTALL rgz.version.tar.gz

    The output is correct until the last line, in which this appears: configure: error: X11 not found but required, configure aborted. ERROR: configuration failed for package ‘rgl’
    * removing ‘/Library/Frameworks/R.framework/Versions/2.15/Resources/library/rgl’
    * restoring previous ‘/Library/Frameworks/R.framework/Versions/2.15/Resources/library/rgl’

    I tried the same with all the rgl version from the 0.70 to the last one, and had the exact same problem.

    I do have X11 installed and upgraded.

    I am working on a Mac OSX 10.6.8.

    Thanks a lot!

    PS. Also alternatives softwares ideas to plot in 3d pca results are welcome (while I try to solve the problem, I can at least check out my results!)

    Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
    by seqadmin

    Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...

    Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
    by seqadmin

    Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
