Hi all,compared to SBS，SBL has a much shorter read length（SOLiDv4‘s 50 to Hiseq 2000’s 1000）.Which causes this disadvange?

the HiSeq 2000 has max read length 100bp (paired end: 2x100bp)
the SOLiD 5500xl has max read length 75bp (paired end: 2x60bp)
as you said, the difference lies within the method (SBS vs. SBL). at the moment ABi can only ensure 12 or so ligation cycles without obtaining bad read quality at the end. but they most likely are working on the chemistry to further improve this.
