  • Group Leader - Next Generation Sequencing Sample Prep

    New England Biolabs, Inc. (NEB) is currently seeking a highly motivated Group Leader for the NEBNext product development group, focusing on the development and production of innovative solutions for next generation sequencing sample preparation. This position requires extensive experience in product development within the next generation sequencing (NGS) space.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop strategic plan, manage, prioritize and execute the development of NGS sample prep products from idea through production.
    • Collaborate with Global Business Development and Marketing teams to ensure progress on established goals and timelines.
    • Lead the NGS development group and ensure activities are consistent with strategic plan and project goals.
    • Establish and develop collaborations with sequencing cores at other biotechnology companies to expand the diversity and application of NEBNext products.
    • Build relationships with customers to expand over the counter and custom market opportunities.

    Additional responsibilities:

    • Develop next-generation sequencing sample prep methods, both by utilizing standard molecular biology processes and creating novel solutions.
    • Coordinate and support all stages of the transition of new products from development to product release, such as validating processes, establishing quality controls, setting launch dates, coordinating beta testing, writing protocols, establishing product inventories, and aiding marketing and business development groups in preparation of product launches.
    • Support established products by coordinating a steady supply of validated reagents and kits.

    The ideal candidate will have:

    • Extensive research and development experience with DNA and/or RNA polymerases and modifying enzymes.
    • Experience with one or more of the next-generation sequencing platforms.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast paced environment.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Qualifications:

    • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field.
    • 3+ years of product development experience, including the field of Next Generation Sequencing.
    • Management experience in biotech industry setting.
