Default Postdoctoral Position in Computational Biology on Cancer Biomarker Discovery

A postdoctoral position in Computational Biology at Boehringer Ingelheim Oncology in Vienna is available immediately.

Research topics:
The successful candidate will mainly work in the area of cancer biomarker discovery with the aim to predict and understand genotype and transcriptome dependent differential responses to novel targeted therapies.
This includes the utilization of genomics data delivered by next generation sequencing, expression arrays and SNP-chips. Chemo-sensitivity profiling screens across large cancer cell line panels will form the basis for the discovery of predictive response biomarkers. Furthermore, mechanism of action studies as well as the elucidation of drug induced resistance mechanisms are additional areas of interest.

Requirements:
The candidate should have a PhD degree in biology, bioinformatics, or in a related discipline with a proven record in genomics data analysis. A profound understanding of cancer biology and the ability to translate and communicate results is highly desired. The candidate should be comfortable in handling large datasets and be able to identify and implement computationally efficient data processing strategies in a linux environment.

Terms and locale:
The position is initially for two years, location Vienna, Austria.

Institution Background:
Boehringer Ingelheim is a research-driven international pharmaceutical company with over 40.000 employees world-wide. The research site in Vienna is solely dedicated to cancer drug discovery.

Contact:
Interested candidates should contact Christian.Haslinger@boehringer-ingelheim.com along with copies of their CV, publication list and names of reference persons.
