Default index bed file

Is there a command or tool that will index a bed file. I have sorted it, but is it necessary to index it as well? Thank you .

What command are you trying to run? No indexing should be needed for a bed file.

No command was used, I guess it was just more out of curiosity and for me to know as I am started to do more and more bioinformatics with NGS data. Thank you .
